Green Heroes Conservation Crew is a team of young people who work within their local community to engage others in wildlife conservation and habitat restoration.

This online resource hub contains information and advice for schools and community groups on how to plan, co-ordinate and lead projects that restore habitats, clean up the environment and support wildlife rescue and conservation organisations. Together with like-minded peers, young people can experience the power of acting locally to support native fauna and flora, while developing valuable team-working, project management and event planning skills. Students who actively participate become engaged in real-world issues, giving them confidence to get out there and make positive change.

how to run a conservation club & organise successful projects/events

case study: school tree planting

Tree planting has 'mind-blowing' potential to tackle the climate crisis. This film demonstrates how school communities can work together to restore natural areas within their own grounds… and create habitat for wildlife, promote wellbeing, provide opportunities for students to do scientific fieldwork and support a whole range of other curriculum-related activities.

the essentials of fundraising & collecting supplies for wildlife carers

short film: wildlife carers in their own words

This film features interviews with four dedicated wildlife carers from Wildcare Australia and Tweed Valley Wildlife Carers, who share their stories and their hopes for Australia’s unique and incredible native wildlife. Conservation clubs are encouraged to support wildlife rescue organisations through fundraising and/or donation of much needed supplies for volunteer carers.

Green Heroes is an Australian registered charity which aims to connect children and youth with the natural world and engage them in conservation action. Kindness towards all living things is at the core of our philosophy. We believe that those who develop a loving relationship with the natural world in childhood and adolescence are more likely to demonstrate respectful and caring attitudes towards the environment throughout life.

We are grateful to Naomi Edwards from Intrepid Landcare for her advice and support in designing and developing this program.
