About SeaWeek

Five days. Five expeditions. One incredible ocean.

SeaWeek is Australia’s national week of marine environmental education, run each March by the Australian Association for Environmental Education. It exists to get people thinking about the ocean — and, ideally, into it.

Our SeaWeek program runs five different expeditions across the week, each looking at the reserve through a different lens: fish, seabirds, habitat, water quality, and the cultural story of the place.

Come to one or come to all five. Schools, families and community groups all welcome.

On the Day

How the week works

Each day stands alone, but together they build a full picture of the reserve.

01

Pick your days

Five expeditions run across the week, each with its own focus. Register for whichever suit you — there is no requirement to attend them all.

02

Get in the water

Most days involve snorkelling or diving the reserve. Shoreline and boat-based options are available for anyone who would rather stay dry.

03

Record what you find

Every expedition contributes observations to our long-term Cook Island dataset via iNaturalist, so the week produces real data rather than just a good time.
